Judith Barker
I have sewn all my life and have been quilting since about 1980, inspired by a touring exhibition at Bristol Museum. I came out buzzing with excitement and made my first quilt. Since then, I have taught, given talks, and exhibited both in the UK and internationally. Much of my recent work comes from my interest in archaeology, with museum objects and the photographs of excavations often the starting point. Fabric and thread are endlessly seductive in colour and texture; I use them to tell stories, to reflect on myth and history. But at its simplest, I am happy when I am designing and stitching. |
