Step inside a working artist’s studio and watch members of Contemporary Quilt West stitching, dyeing, printing and generally conjuring up some textile magic. Our stand at the West Country Quilt and Textile Show is being transformed into a studio. Each day a rota of members will be at work so that visitors can gain an insight into how a studio nourishes creativity and the art of “considered making”. There will be ‘wet’ techniques including dyeing, painting, felting and printing and ‘dry’ techniques such as hand and machine stitching, improvised cutting and collage. The samples made will be pinned on a design wall for visitors to inspect. Also on view will be sketchbooks which have inspired and jump started pieces of work plus a video of the group’s exhibition Unfolding Stories 2. A sales table will offer materials and finished items. Entry to our studio is free, but you will need to have purchased a general admission ticket to the West of England Quilt & Textile Show to gain entry.
More information can be found by clicking the button below. If you register your interest you can print off a FREE ticket for your chance to win a piece of artwork created at the studio. Bring it along and hand it to one of the artists. We look forward to seeing you.
